Barcelona’s first airfield which is located at El Remolar.It actually began operations in 1916. But, it did not have a decent expansion prospects so a new airport at El Prat opened in 1918.The airport was used as the headquarters of the Aeroclub of Catalonia and the base for the Spanish Navy’s Zeppelin fleet.

Terminal 2 is divided into three linked sections known as the famous terminal 2A, 2B and 2C.Terminal 2B is one of the oldest part of the complex still in use which practically dates back to 1968.Following the opening of terminal 1 back in 2009, terminal 2 nearly became totally empty until the airport authorities lowered landing fees to attract low cost and regional carriers to fill the terminal. Terminal 2C is only used by Easy jet flights with flights to the United Kingdom.
